Chinese Academy of Engineering President Xu Kuangdi Speaks on Developing a Low-Carbon Economy in China

Prof Xu Kuangdi, President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was invited by HKUST Institute for Advanced Study to give a Distinguished Lecture on "Addressing Climate Change: Developing a Low-Carbon Economy in China". Prof Xu advocates a restructuring of China's energy regime to put greater emphasis on developing nuclear and renewable power.

Tin Ka Ping Education Fund sets up IAS Fellowship

The Tin Ka Ping Foundation has generously pledged a donation of HK$3 million to HKUST. With the government's matching grant, a total sum of HK$6 million will be made available for setting up the "Tin Ka Ping Education Fund" to help finance research development at IAS.

Dr Lee Shau Kee Honored as IAS Founding Patron

The Lee Shau Kee Foundation Ltd has generously pledged a donation of HK$ 400 million to HKUST as a global leading research university. In recognition of Dr Lee's support, the University will name its new campus now being developed the "Lee Shau Kee Campus" and honor Dr Lee as a Founding Patron of IAS at HKUST.
