Summary Details

Well known for his Shell Theory for elastic thin objects that frequently exist in modern industry, Prof Philippe Ciarlet from City University of Hong Kong has established a mathematical model with his innovative application of asymptotic analysis. He gives a survey of progress recently made about the mathematical analysis of different approaches to the theory, applied to linearly elastic and nonlinearly elastic shells.
