IAS DISTINGUISHED LECTURE
Force Sensing: Towards a Molecular Understanding of Touch, Hearing, Osmotic-Force Sensing, etc.
Prof Ching Kung, University of Wisconsin–Madison
Date : 13 Jun 2012 (Wednesday)
Time : 3:30 - 5:00pm
Venue : Mr and Mrs Lee Siu Lun Lecture Theater (LT-K), HKUST
Summary Details

Prof Ching Kung from University of Wisconsin–Madison shares his study on the molecules that allow sensing of mechanical forces such as impact, pressure, and vibration. He presents the class of ion channels (membrane-embedded proteins) that is opened by stretch force to generate ionic (electric) signals, and discusses the role of protein-membrane interface in force transmission.

Free and open to the public. Seating is on a first-come first-served basis.
