Prof Shu Chien from UC San Diego is one of the first few scholars who received "grand slam" memberships from US National Academy of Sciences, US National Academy of Engineering, American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the Institute of Medicine. His multidisciplinary research takes an integrative approach that combines engineering and biomedical sciences.
