Sir Michael Moritz is Chairman of Sequoia Capital, an American venture capital firm which is described as “one of Silicon Valley’s most influential venture-capital firms” by the Wall Street Journal, and has funded an unprecedented number of enormously successful companies including Google, Yahoo, Paypal, Electronic Arts, NVIDIA, Cisco Systems, Oracle, Apple, YouTube, Admob and Zappos. Before joining the firm in 1986, he was a correspondent for Time magazine. He received his BA in History from the University of Oxford in 1976 and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1978.
Sir Michael has been instrumental in helping Sequoia Capital start and build its business in China, India and Israel and its public market and long-term asset management funds. He has represented Sequoia Capital on the Boards of Yahoo, Google, PayPal, LinkedIn, etc. Today he is deeply involved with young companies such as Instacart, Klarna, Stripe and Skyscanner. He is the author of The Little Kingdom: The Private Story of Apple Computer, Going for Broke: The Chrysler Story and Return to the Little Kingdom: How Apple and Steve Jobs Changed the World.
Sir Michael was appointed Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire (KBE) in the 2013 Birthday Honors for services to promoting British economic interests and philanthropic work.
