IAS DISTINGUISHED LECTURE
Minimizing Effects of Uncertainty in Reliability-Based Design
and in Risk-Informed Decisions
Prof Alfredo H. Ang, University of California at Irvine
Date : 16 Mar 2012 (Friday)
Time : 3:30 - 5:00pm
Venue : Cheung On Tak Lecture Theater (LT-E), HKUST
Summary Details

Recognition of the aleatory or the epistemic type of uncertainties is a necessary prerequisite in the reliability approach; modeling and quantification (or estimation) of these uncertainties are steps required in any reliability or risk analysis. Prof Alfredo Ang from University of California at Irvine presents the concepts of minimizing the effects of the epistemic type of uncertainty and illustrates them with specific examples in the design of specific infrastructure systems.

Free and open to the public. Seating is on a first-come first-served basis.
