Prof Roger Howe, Yale University, Visiting Member of HKUST Institute for Advanced Study
Date : 28 Feb 2012 (Tuesday)
Time : 3:00 - 4:30 pm

Summary Details

IAS Visiting Member Prof Roger Howe explains how tools developed for toric deformation allow one to reinterpret and work flexibly with combinatorial objects that were originally constructed in a somewhat ad hoc manner for purposes of representation theory. He also discusses the Littlewood-Richardson Rule, a central result of representation theory, with applications to analysis of combined systems.
