IAS Visiting Professor Eli Yablonovitch discusses how the clock speed of a computer processor is derived. Two views on this matter, the greater the resources poured into the effort, energy, money, etc., the greater the speed and the fundamental speed limit which is controlled by the constants of nature, ħ, c, q, m. are discussed.
