Abstract
Allenes have been becoming a more and more important class of chemicals showing very attractive reactivities, thus, new methods for the efficient enantioselective synthesis of allenes are highly desirable. In this lecture, the speaker would like to discuss his and his research group’s second generated technology for the enantioselective synthesis of allenes from terminal alkynes and aldehydes (Allenylation of Terminal Alkynes (ATA) Reactions). Some other enantioselective approaches and the synthetic applications will also be presented.
About the speaker
Prof Shengming Ma obtained his PhD from Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry (SIOC) and became an Assistant Professor there in 1991. He then began his postdoctoral research at the ETH Zurich and returned to SIOC in 1997. From 2003 to 2007, he was jointly appointed by SIOC and Zhejiang University (ZJU). In 2007, he moved to East China Normal University to help build the research program in organic chemistry. In 2014, he moved to Fudan University and currently is the Professor both at SIOC and Fudan University. He also has adjunct appointments at ZJU, East China Normal University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Prof Ma received numerous awards including Mr & Mrs Sun Chan Memorial Award in Organic Chemistry, Organometallic Chemistry Directed Towards Organic Synthesis (OMCOS) Springer Award, National Award for Research in Natural Science in China and Natural Science Awards of Shanghai. He is a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and The World Academy of Sciences.
