Abstract

LHC Run 2 would collide at 13 TeV by summer, and collect 100 fb-1 by 2018. With the backdrop of "No New Physics" at Run 1, and the flavor front sharing the disappointment, the energy increase at Run 2 gives us hope, though diminished, for observing New Physics. In this talk, the speaker reviews the current front lines of B_q -> mu+mu-, CPV phase phi_s, and P5' in B -> K*mumu angular observables, as well as the so-called "BaBar anomaly" in B -> D^(*) tau nu, with implications for flavor changing neutral Higgs couplings. The latter brings in the new flavor frontier involving the Top and Higgs, motivating the search for t -> cH as well as H -> mu tau, and we also touch upon t -> cZ, as well as t -> cZ'. The Z' from gauged L_mu - L_tau has two flavor incarnations: that of heavy Z' related to P5', or a very light (< 400 MeV!) Z' related to muon g-2 anomaly (but not both). The latter brings about a potential surprise in the oldest flavor front: kaons. It is found that K_L -> pi0 Z' could "evade" the so-called Grossman-Nir bound, allowing the KOTO experiment to flirt with discovery during LHC Run 2 period, with BaBar/Belle(2), NA62, LHCb all in the game. He closes with some comments on Baryon Number Violation, Origin of Flavor, and Baryon Asymmetry of Universe.

The seminar is free and open to all. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
