Enhanced Catalysis with Nano Confinement

Prof Xinhe Bao from the State Key Laboratory of Catalysis of the Chinese Academy of Sciences demonstrates a unique effect of electronic and structural confinement on catalysis, emphasizing on the interfacial interaction between nano-sized oxide islands and the surfaces of noble metals. He presents a strategy to confine the active coordinatively unsaturated centers on the solid surface at the interface between a TM oxide and a noble metal. He also illustrated the importance of the oxide metal interfaces in the creation and stabilization of surface active centers, and reveals the reaction mechanism at these active sites.

The lecture is free and open to all. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
