Call for Proposals
The IAS is a unique academic platform where great minds converge. It offers unparalleled opportunities for HKUST faculty members to bring in distinguished scholars from outside Hong Kong for various forms of academic activities:

  1. IAS Distinguished Lectures Please read the information on IAS Sponsorship of Speakers of Distinguished Lectures if there are any distinguished scholars whom you want to invite to HKUST to give a lecture of general interests. Proposals are considered on a quarterly basis.

  2. IAS Joint School Lectures/Seminars Please read the information on IAS Sponsorship of Speakers of Joint School Lectures/Seminars if you want to invite outstanding scholars to HKUST to give a talk of a specific topic.

  3. Sponsorship of Plenary/Invited Speakers of Activities To encourage HKUST faculty members to help the IAS build clusters of research activities and new initiatives at HKUST in form of standalone conferences, workshops, seminars, symposiums, etc., the IAS provides sponsorship to partially fund the distinguished scholars from outside Hong Kong who contribute to such activities.

  4. IAS Visitors Program The IAS has been hosting visits of outstanding scholars who are committed to engaging in academic and research collaborations with HKUST faculty members. Nominations are open to invite such scholars for extended visits.

  5. IAS Programs A new concept for many people in Hong Kong, the IAS programs promote the creation and development of IAS clusters of research activities and new initiatives at HKUST. Comprising short courses, workshops, and in some cases postdoc-led/postgraduate student-led discussion sessions, fully-fledged programs mostly take place during term break. Smaller-scale focused programs on particular topics are also organized during the term. Typically, an IAS program may last for at least one month, while an IAS focused program lasts for five days, from Monday to Friday.
