IAS Bank of East Asia Professor Received the 2017 IEEE Nishizawa Medal

IAS Bank of East Asia Professor #fac_ChingTang# was awarded the 2017 IEEE Nishizawa Medal together with two other professors from the University of Michigan and the University of Southern California for their pioneering work on organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays. The medal was established in 2002 in honor of Prof Jun-ichi Nishizawa, the Father of Japanese Microelectronics, and it is presented to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to material and device science and technology, including practical application.

IAS Senior Visiting Fellow Awarded Honorary Doctorate at HKUST's 24th Congregation

IAS Senior Visiting Fellow LUK Kam-Biu from the University of California at Berkeley was conferred an honorary degree (Doctor of Science honoris causa) at HKUST’s 24th Congregation. Prof Luk conceived an experiment to explore neutrino oscillation in 2002 that later marked the first impactful mega Sino-American scientific research collaboration based in China. He received the 2014 W K H Panofsky Prize from the American Physical Society, and the 2016 Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics for the far-reaching attainments of his work.
