Commencement of Construction on IAS Building

A commencement ceremony was held for the construction of the Lee Shau Kee Campus at HKUST. As a key infrastructural component of our campus development, the Lee Shau Kee Campus comprises the Business Building and the Institute for Advanced Study and occupies an area of about 10 hectares.

Nobel Laureate Eric Maskin Joins HKUST IAS as Visiting Member

Nobel Laureate in Economics and Albert O Hirschman Professor of Social Science at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton Eric MASKIN has signed on as a Visiting Member of the HKUST Institute for Advanced Study and will visit the University on a regular basis to teach and interact with faculty and students.

Chinese Academy of Engineering President Xu Kuangdi Speaks on Developing a Low-Carbon Economy in China

Prof Xu Kuangdi, President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was invited by HKUST Institute for Advanced Study to give a Distinguished Lecture on "Addressing Climate Change: Developing a Low-Carbon Economy in China". Prof Xu advocates a restructuring of China's energy regime to put greater emphasis on developing nuclear and renewable power.
