Synopsis

With the number of global consumers expected to hit 8.5 billion by 2030, Mr Barry Cheung, Independent Non-Executive Director of UC RUSAL and Chairman of the Hong Kong Mercantile Exchange, will provide insights into the positive and negative implications of this tremendous population growth.

Indeed, the next few years will likely see the emergence of unprecedented issues. Mr Cheung will question whether the consequent increase in consumer spending power would contribute to a sustainable global economic recovery and, if yes, could our limited resources support the increase in demand? What role would Asia play? How can industries and corporations manage risks and take advantage of new opportunities? And what actions should governments take in order to improve resource management, both locally and globally?

These and other issues will be covered by Mr Cheung as he draws greater attention to a major global milestone – one that should be of concern to all of us.
