Satellite Workshop - Phases of Matter from an Informational Perspective (Dec 4-11, 2024)
Background

On top of the main conference, a satellite workshop titled “Phases of Matter from an Informational Perspective” will also be held from December 4-11, 2024. This workshop focuses on the emerging research direction which seeks better understand how phases of matter, which could arise in real materials, might be better described abstractly in terms of their information content. The workshop gathers a small group of young researchers who are interested in thinking about the following pair of questions:

Topics:

(i)  What information is needed to describe and predict the physical properties of a phase of matter?
(ii)  How does information theoretic considerations help us better understand the “phases” of matter and beyond?

This workshop is more informal in nature with plenty of time left for active discussions among the small group of participants. The scientific program can be found below.
