Overview
The day after the official naming ceremony, the HKUST Jockey Club
Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) is hosting a mini-Symposium on the
Frontier of Physics on Nov 28 afternoon. This symposium will feature
renowned scientists including Bob Austin (Princeton), Marvin Cohen
(Berkeley), Paul Chu (Houston), John Ellis (CERN), Peter Goddard
(Princeton IAS) and Luis Ibanez (Spain). The talks will cover a broad
range of topics in Physics, including particle physics, nanoscience,
superconductivity, mathematical physics and bio-physics. In
addition to being a satellite activity of the IAS Inaugural, this
symposium shall fulfil the role of fostering the interaction of local
scientists with leading physicists in different fields. All the talks
will be given at the colloquium level and everyone is welcome to join
us to celebrate the scholarship of the distinguished speakers and
learn from them the most exciting development in Physics.
The symposium is free and open to all. For better planning of refreshment and other logistics, intended participants are strongly urged to register online in advance.
