Dr Clarence Edward Choi
Research Assistant Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, HKUST
Dr Clarence Edward Choi carried out his undergraduate studies in civil engineering in Canada and received his PhD in geotechnical engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in 2013. He subsequently practiced geotechnical engineering at Golder Associates Ltd. (formerly Geotechnical Consulting Group) in Hong Kong. He has participated in large-scale projects including the Western Kowloon Terminus, Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facility, Shatin to Central Link, Central Wan Chai Bypass, and the Landslides Prevention and Mitigation Programme.

The research of Dr Choi focuses on flume, centrifuge, and discrete element modelling of fast moving landslides such as debris flows. His interest is in flow interaction and impact with structural countermeasures. He is currently a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at HKUST and a Junior Fellow at the HKUST Jockey Club Institute for Advanced Study.
