GORDON RESEARCH SEMINAR
Neutron Scattering: Neutron Scattering as a Cutting Edge Probe of Structure and Dynamics of Advanced Materials
Date : 5 - 6 Aug 2017
Venue : HKUST Jockey Club Institute for Advanced Study, Lo Ka Chung Building, Lee Shau Kee Campus, HKUST

Overview

The Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) on Neutron Scattering is a unique forum which is intended to bring together graduate students, post-docs and early-career faculty with comparable levels of experience from the global neutron science community. Participants are encouraged to showcase and present their cutting edge and unpublished research, to network, collaborate and exchange innovative ideas with their peers and mentors in the understanding and design of novel materials.

This GRS is intended to highlight the triumphs of neutron scattering in providing unique insight in advanced materials research in light of recent advances in the development of neutron instrumentation and the emergence of new neutron sources in the USA, Europe, Asia and Australia. The focus of the GRS will be on a variety of materials which represent the full breadth of research conducted in the neutron science community including magnetic and superconducting materials, topological materials, polymeric and biological materials, as well as energy-related and engineering materials. The meeting will feature a keynote lecture by a key scientific leader from the neutron community, selected oral and poster presentations and a mentorship panel focused on career development.
