IAS Workshop on Nanomaterials and Their Applications in Displays and Photonics (NanoDisP) [Jun 19-21, 2023]

Overview

The NanoDisP workshop will host leading scientists from academia and industry to discuss the latest development in nanomaterial technologies, synthesis, advanced optical, electrical, electro-optical properties, and their applications in modern displays. This workshop will provide a combination of industry and academic perspectives on how display and photonic materials from the nano-scale to macro-scale are rapidly changing, thereby providing new opportunities for industrial applications and challenges to explore for scientists and engineers. We aim to bring together front-line experts from multidisciplinary research areas to join us in advancing the intellectual collaboration between academia, research and market leaders in the field and to stimulate the exchange of information between industries and between fields.

Recently, the display industry has seen great progress in displays involving nanomaterials, mostly in the form of quantum dots, and the nanocrystal community has started to explore novel materials that can further improve image quality, efficiency and cost. Nanomaterials like nanorods and perovskites have certain advantages over existing quantum dot technologies that could be beneficial to the display industry. At this moment, there are several challenges that need to be solved before these materials can be applied to display devices, including quantum yield (brightness) and toxicity.
