Overview

The Asian Winter School in Quantum Chemistry is aimed at graduate students who wish to gain an understanding of the theoretical principles behind many of the modern quantum chemistry and condensed matter electronic structure methods in use today. In addition to in-depth theoretical lectures delivered by leading researchers, there will be hands-on problem sessions with program packages and problems using these methods.

The workshop is FREE to all attendees although registration is required (there is an upper limit of 50 participants).

Prerequisites:

Students should have a good working knowledge of quantum mechanics, e.g. at the level of Molecular Quantum Mechanics.
Some familiarity with second quantization will be assumed.

Class size: 50

Topics to be covered at this school:

Basic Quantum Chemistry and Traditional Correlation Methods [Garnet Chan]
Density Functional Theory [Eberhard K. U. (Hardy) Gross]
Green Functions in Electronic Structure [Hong Jiang]
Matrix Product States and Density Matrix Renormalization Group [Naoki Nakatani]
Quantum Monte Carlo [Lucas Wagner]
